KIDNEY STONES, CYSTITIS  AND THE HERBS THAT CURE


It seems that this problem has been occurring in various people I know and even in my cat, so I want to share my knowledge on this common ailment and how to cure it. I say cure, because although I cannot cure anything, God can, and has provided every herb for the healing of the body.

Kidney stones are extremely painful, and are easily remedied without a trip to the hospital. There are three main herbs I combine; Juniper Berries, Gravel Root and Marshmallow Root. Let's take a look at all three for their medicinal properties.

Juniper Berries is a diuretic ( increases urine) anodyne ( pain reliever) and antiseptic. It is a great healer to the kidneys, urinary passages and bladder. Juniper is also a counter-poison removing waste products from the bloodstream. The berries have historically been used in renal dropsy, retention of urine, kidney stones, acute or chronic kidney problems and retention of uric acids, to name just a few. Uva Ursi can also be used instead of Juniper berries in this formula and either one can be taken to overcome cystitis and Uva Ursi is also a specific for gravel.

Gravel Root ( or Queen of the Meadow) is also a diuretic ( but lithotriptic - an herb that dissolves or discharges gravel or stones) ,
astringent, nervine and relaxant. It is used mainly for the urinary-genital areas, relaxing, stimulating, toning and dissolving any sediment that has collected on the surfaces. Gravel Root is used for all chronic disorders of the kidney, bladder and urethral channels. Many times chronic cystitis has gravel deposits at the root of the problem, so gravel root to the rescue.

The last herb is Marshmallow Root is a specific for inflammation in the genito-urinary area. It is a mucilage, demulcent ( soothing and protective to irritated and inflamed surfaces) emollient ( softening, soothing) and nutritive ( herbs that are nourishing and building to body tissues). Marshmallow is used for all swollen and inflamed organs or tissues. Marshmallow root will stop the inflammation in the kidneys or bladder and will coat the stones so that they will pass easily out of the urinary passages.

I mentioned that I had used this on my cat, who was exhibiting painful inflammation in the kidneys with arching of the back and screaming. I put the herbal tincture in her water for days and I can now say she is completely restored to her normal self. You can use this with complete confidence on your animals, knowing you will greatly help them.
